Ask a question in Work

Open Work and choose Chat in the sidebar. Chat is where you ask questions, inspect evidence, and ask Signal to carry out larger work as a Task without leaving the conversation.

Start a conversation#

Choose New, write your question, and send it. Enter sends; Shift+Enter adds a line. Include the market, customer, category, period, and decision when they affect the answer.

Use Add context beside the composer to attach files or reference earlier Tasks. Check the removable context chips before sending. Attachments are context for this conversation; upload reusable reference material under Data → Knowledge.

What Chat can inspect#

Chat can read attachments, search Knowledge and accessible prior work, inspect Task results and report files, find registered datasets, and preview up to 50 rows from a dataset. It can explain column meanings and what a sample contains.

A sample does not prove a whole-dataset total or ranking. For calculations, joins, forecasts, substantial analysis, web research, or generated reports, Signal starts a Task. Chat itself has no general web browser or facility to run arbitrary code or database queries.

Name a previous report or Task when it matters, or reference it explicitly. You do not need special words to unlock a search of previous work. Signal can combine attached context with Knowledge and other evidence.

Ask Signal to do the work#

Describe the outcome in the conversation, for example:

  • "Check whether we have the data for a promotional return-on-investment analysis."
  • "Analyse the latest quarter by retailer and explain the main margin changes here."
  • "Turn those findings into slides for the customer meeting."

Signal can start a Task directly. A Task can return a researched answer to the conversation or produce a report, dashboard, deck, or file. When the output is unclear, Signal may ask you to choose a format.

The Task's progress appears in the conversation. Answer a clarification in its question card so the reply goes to the right piece of work. Use Cancel on the running Task when you want to stop it. Stop response stops the current Chat response.

Follow up on existing work#

Ask for an explanation, a refresh, a different breakdown, or a new presentation of the existing result. Signal can send that follow-up to the existing Task. Report updates create versions; an explanation from existing findings may simply return an answer.

Open a finished deliverable from its card to view it beside the conversation. Use the version menu to compare results, and check the selected version before exporting or sharing externally.

Check the evidence#

Read the citations and source notes included in the answer or report. Check their period, market, and scope before repeating a figure. Ask Signal which file, Task, or dataset supports a claim when that is unclear.

Dataset previews, general commercial guidance, and completed calculations are different kinds of evidence. Signal should explain which it used and disclose gaps rather than invent missing facts.
